ABOVE THE LINE- LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT & EMERGENT READING SERIES- (ASSESSMENT SET)

Picture reading or playing at reading is a comprehension activity and key in a child’s early learning experiences. Above the Line Language Development and Emergent Reading Series (ATL Series) Assessment helps teachers assess and monitor a student’s control of language and beginning reading concepts and skills in a systematic way.  These foundational concepts and skills include oral (expressive) and aural (receptive) language, print concepts, book handling skills, as well as important cognitive, social, and emotional concepts. As children build these above the line concepts and skills, they are also developing the ability and confidence needed to tackle below the line concepts and skills, such as letters, sounds, words and sentences, which comes later in their literacy development.
